Welcome to St. Christopher's
"Seeking God's Truth, Sharing God's Love"
Shrove Tuesday Supper, February 28
6:30 pm in the Parish Hall
Join us to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a delicious sausage and pancake supper at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. The Gentlemen of the Parish are cooking, so be sure to bring an appetite.
Shrove Tuesday originated during the Middle Ages. As in current times, food items like meats, fats, eggs, milk, and fish were regarded as restricted during Lent. To keep fresh food from being wasted, many families would have big feasts on Shrove Tuesday in order to consume any foods that would become spoiled during the next forty days.
The English tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday came about as a way to use as much milk, fats, and eggs as possible before Ash Wednesday began. In France, the consumption of all fats and fatty foods on this day coined the name "Fat Tuesday" or Mardi Gras. See you for dinner and great company ...
Reverend Anne Knight Hoey is our interim rector.
Anne was born in Austin. She attended local schools, graduated from St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, and studied at Wellesley College and the University of Texas, where she earned a B.A. in Spanish.
She received the degree of Master of Divinity and was ordained to the diaconate in 1988 and to the priesthood in 1989. She served the Seminary of the Southwest as an adjunct lecturer and tutor in theology, as seminary chaplain, and on its board of trustees.
Anne has served as associate rector and rector in several churches in central Texas. Since retiring in 2005, she has served as a supply priest in this area.

Choir Rehearsal -
Our Choir Rehearsals are at 7 pm on Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary. If you love to sing, consider joining us. We have a joyful time together. No long-term commitment is required. So, join us as we make "a joyful noise to the Lord".
Ann Vail leads our wonderful choir every Sunday. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated musicians.
Our lovely church sits on a small hill looking over the Barton Creek Preserve, giving us a spectacular view of the surrounding area. We continue to enhance the beauty of the grounds with plantings of native Texas wildflowers.
One of the most popular areas of the church is the walking trail, which depicts the Stations of the Cross and is used during our Good Friday service. There is always a breeze up on the hill, reminding us of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
